RE: Automatic transmission question...

It would be better for it if you did lock it in a gear. Select one that will handle the load and the engine will not be either straining or running at an excessive rpm. You will likely not be able to maintain your normal speed. Just find a speed that is " comfortable " and sit back and relax.

RE: API Oil Classifications

Usually they say class SG/D " or later " ie, SE, SF, etc. The S signifys it is for gasoline engines ( Spark Ignition ). C/G, C/E, etc indicates that it is suitable for Diesel ( Combustion Ignition ). The C designation is also OK for gas engines.

RE: Propane and High Altitude

I live on the Texas gulf coast and have never experienced any troubles like that with mine. IMHO, I don't think adjusting oxygen for altitude is that critical unless you might be using some very sensitive equipment.I think Mike ( above ) Is on the right track.

RE: Grey Water Drain Valve Leaking/Hard To Replace?

If you can get to it, it isn't very hard. Just remove the four bolts holding it in and put in a new one. Just be sure that you get the new O ring gaskets seated and in place .

RE: Do Canadian gas stations take Discover credit cards?

I have been in Canada several times and they would not accept Discover cards then. There is no problem with Visa or Master card. You also will get the official exchange rate when the items are posted to your account.

RE: PROPANE R V

Also keep in mind, that if you use propane for a highway fuel you also have to add the state and federal taxes to.So bear this in mind when they quote you the "lower per gallon" versus gas.

RE: Montana vs Mountaineer

I have a Mountaineer. It is a Montana without some of the "luxury " items, ie exposed rear bumper, some vinyl tile versus all carpet.Maybe some of the trim and interior finish. It was compared by my dealer as a Buick versus a Cadilliac.

RE: Tire Pressure - Newbie mistake ?

Get yourself a tire guage so that you will get consistent readings, and air the tires up to the manufacturers maximum rating and be satisfied. If you keep trying to regulate the pressure according to " weight "you will always be in doubt.

RE: lawn mower engine help.

Most newer mowers don;t have points. They use electronic ignitions. The flywheel pin could be sheared, but not likely. If it is a push type mower make sure the blade is tight. The blade also acts as a flywheel and it will not run or start if the blade is loose. If you have had the blade off for sharpening this would be a good thing to check.

RE: Brake warning light flickering

Don;t know what it is on, but some of the older modelvehicle ( not sure about the newer ) had a mechanical switch that was activated by the brake pedal suspension arm. Sometimes they would get out of adjustment after a period of time and cause this symptom.

RE: Help me please with my Air Compressor

How much air do you already have in the tires ? That is a small compressor for that job. I probably also has a regulator on it that you haven't discovered that is set lower that what is in the tires. This ( 100 lbs ) is probably the maximum rated output and it will not maintain that but a few minutes at a time when in use.Generally speaking, the pressures on those are on at 80 and off at 100.

RE: extention cords

I would not use smaller that a 12 ga wire and not over 50 ft. Oh yea, a 12 UF wire is still a 12 ga wire. The UF indicates that it is approved for underground use as an " Underground Feeder "

RE: A switch for Suburban water heater

I went to the 110 breaker that the heater is on and wired a switch leg from it. I used 3 conductor wire and went to Radio Shack and picked up a 110 neon pilot light, drilled the proper size hole in the switch cover plate and wired in the pilot. It is on when the heater is on. Leave the outside switch in the on position. If you are familiar with wiring you can do this-if not get a qualified person to do it. I installed the switch under the front of the sink in a panel-works great!!
